Michael Kinnear was born in Ireland. Came to America bringing with him one son, James Kinnear. The wife and mother died on the way over and was buried in the ocean. The son, James, was born in Ireland, May 22, 1783.

He James was married to Martha L. Harris on the 17th day of March 1808, in Fanquier Co. Virginia. (She was often called Patty and is referred to in the family record by that name). She was born April 3, 1788. To them were born eleven children as follows:

Margaret (or Peggy as she was sometimes called), first daughter was born in Virginia, May 14, 1809.

Sarah, second daughter was born in Virginia, July 25, 1811.

Martha Ann, third daughter was born in Virginia, March 19, 1813.

Louisa Jane, fourth daughter was born in Virginia, December 25, 1814.

William Dawson, first son was born in Virginia, August 22, 1817.

Thomas Harris, second son was born in Virginia, October 5, 1820.

Elizabeth, fifth daughter was born in Virginia, April 11, 1822.

Emmila, Sixth daughter was born in Virginia, January 15, 1825.

Mary Lucinda, seventh daughter was born in Virginia, October 16, 1826.

Michael, third son was born in Virginia, February 16, 1829

Elias Campbell, fourth son was born in Virginia, January 4, 1832.

James Kinnear and family left Virginia and arrived in Jefferson Co., Smyrna Township (where we now live) June 3, 1835. Came in a wagon.

Sarah was married to William Jeffrier in Virginia, January 15, 1831.

Margaret was married to Jenkin Phillips in Virginia, February 14, 1832.

Martha Ann was married to Aaron Rowlison in Indiana, July 28, 1836.

Louisa Jane was married to Andrew F. Cochran in Indiana, Oct.. 24, 1839.

Elizabeth was married to James Elliott in Indiana, December 24, 1846.

Lucinda was married to John Ryker in Indiana, Sept.. 14, 1848.

Elias Campbell was married to Elnora Hammond in Indiana, Oct.. 2, 1879.

Emmila married John Deputy in Indiana.

William Dawson married a Miss Cochran in Indiana.

Michael died in Virginia Aug.. 6, 1830, age 1 yrs. and 5 months.

Margaret Phillips died Nov.. 23, 1844, age 34 yrs. and 6 months.

James Kinnear (the father) died April 12, 1847, age 63 yrs.,10 mo...& 10 days.

Martha Kinnear (the mother) died Nov.. 25, 1870 in the 83 yrs. of her age.

Elias Campbell died Oct.. 7, 1914 in the 83 yrs. of his age.

This is as far as I have any record of the deaths.

The Michael Kinnear referred to was your great great grandfather.

Elmer Marshall is the son of Lizzie Kinnear Marshall and Jess Marshall.
